Q-Lit is Victoria's premier LGBTQIA+ literature festival, dedicated to celebrating the rich and vibrant history of language and storytelling within the queer community. Born from the understanding that LGBTQIA+ culture has a long-standing tradition of utilising language in unique and powerful ways, Q-Lit seeks to honour and elevate these voices. The festival brings together a diverse array of queer writers and creators, transcending genres and mediums to create a truly inclusive and inspiring event.

At Q-Lit, we believe that our community's creative expression has always been an essential part of our resilience and strength. Through the use of coded language in repressed times, exploration of gender and sexuality in stories, and redefinition of oppressive words into empowering ones, LGBTQIA+ individuals have continuously used language as a means of connection, understanding, and empowerment.

With a focus on connecting regional and metropolitan queer writers, Q-Lit showcases the work of talented individuals across a range of fields, including fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels, singer-songwriting, playwright/screenwriting, mixed media, children's books, academia, and poetry. This diversity reflects the richness of the LGBTQIA+ community and ensures that there is something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.

In our commitment to accessibility and community engagement, Q-Lit has presented free workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, in-conversations, and showcases in various locations throughout Victoria, including Fitzroy, Ballarat, Shepparton, Traralgon, Geelong, and Warrnambool. These events provide opportunities for aspiring and established LGBTQIA+ creators to connect, learn, and grow, as well as fostering a sense of belonging and support within the wider community.
