Writing Workshop for Young People

​We’re gamifying writing with Q-Lit’s specially designed youth workshop. The participants are given playful prompts that build foundation of storytelling.

Suitable for ages 8-14.​

Writing Masterclass

Gain expert guidance on crafting the perfect piece of writing and walk away with a finished work that’s ready for the world!
We begin with “Develop,” an hour dedicated to foundational skills for starting a new piece. Next comes “Refine,” focusing on honing and polishing your work. We finish with “Present,” covering the art of presenting your words aloud.
Suitable for adults and VCE students.

Brionadh Hassett
Writing Workshop for Young People Facilitator

Brionadh is an Irish-Australian fiction writer and dog-walking enthusiast operating out of Gunaikurnai Country. Her interests include anything written from the perspective of an animal, mineral or vegetable, and writing things she's never seen before. Her literary influences include Ursula Le Guin, Oscar Wilde, and the literary war stories of Snoopy the Beagle.

Gabriel Carrubba is a filmmaker based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. His award-winning debut feature film, Sunflower, screened at major film festivals across Australia and internationally. In 2024, Sunflower was released in Australian cinemas and became available on streaming platforms worldwide.

Dylan Holdsworth

Dr Dylan Holdsworth is a casual academic at Deakin University whose research examines disability in media and culture. His recently published book, The Government of Disability in Dystopian Children’s Texts (2024), analyses how power operates in the representations of disability in dystopian children’s literature and film.

Gaby lives and works on Gunnaikurnai land as a designer in Gippsland Victoria. She has a passion for locally based live performance, who’s acting and singing abilities have been tolerated by many. She also enjoys time for writing, believing that it is through the arts that we can change the world, one little bit at a time.
